Frequently Asked Questions: PTS: Principles and Practice

1.  Do I have to be a Practical Teaching Supervisor (PTS) on an RAD programme in order to do this module?

Yes.  We contract PTS on the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies.  If you are not currently an approved PTS and wish to enquire about this role please contact Human Resources hr@rad.org.uk

2.  Do I need experience of university level study in order to complete this module?

No.  The module is designed to be studied by those who have the relevant professional experience to become a PTS. The module is aimed at new PTS as well as allowing experienced PTS to gain theoretical underpinning to their practice

3.  How will I be supported in my studies?

Whilst you are completing your module you will be assigned to a tutor who will support you in your studies by e-mail and phone

4.  Are there any additional costs once I am undertaking the module?

With any study you undertake you need to budget for cost of study materials such as key texts. However, the RAD provides the majority of required readings.

5.  Will I have to write an essay for the assessment?

For your final assessment you will have to compile a 2500 word portfolio.  This word count may be daunting. However the work that you complete during your progress through the module builds towards this final assessment and throughout, you are supported by your tutor.

6.  Can I study these modules anywhere in the world?

Yes, when CPD is offered in your country. In 2009, this module is only available to Practical Teaching Supervisors delivering as part of the UK and Australian CBTS cohorts.
