Practical Teaching Supervisor: Principles and Practice
As a Practical Teaching Supervisor, your knowledge and experience supports an entirely new generation of dance teachers.
This unit is only available in the UK and Australia in 2009
This unit introduces you to the wider issues associated with teacher education. It draws upon critical theory and study tasks which are designed to stretch you and allow you to draw personal judgements on the case studies provided.
Completing this unit will enable you to:
* choose supervision styles to match the individual learning and teaching contexts you encounter in your work as a PTS.
* use research, techniques and skills to develop your knowledge of supervision, observation and feedback – on the job.
* become a pivotal professional force for everyone involved in your trainee teachers’ development.
Practical Teaching Supervisor: Principles and Practice is a ten-part unit, designed to be studied over several months. You will work through a unit study guide, in private, and can access the help of a Tutor by phone or by email.
At regular intervals, you will also be able to submit tasks to your tutor, again in private, so that you may both measure your progress in your studies. An example of a task can include reading through a selection of supplied short articles and summarising the authors’ theory of assessment.
Each task you complete as you progress through the unit builds towards a final assignment – a reflective portfolio – which can be used as a valuable tool in your future Practical Teaching Supervision.
