Pre-Primary in Dance & Primary in Dance Courses

From 2009, the Royal Academy of Dance is replacing its current Pre-Primary and Primary syllabi with two new syllabi which have been devised to provide a strong foundation for future dance training that is appropriate and relevant to young children of today.

Fun to do and rewarding to teach, these syllabi help to develop children’s physical skills, stamina, creativity, and expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles.

These one-day courses are essential for any teacher who teaches young children to understand the approach to teaching this new work.

The courses will be delivered through discussion and practical sessions and will include:

* Aims of the syllabi.

* Learning outcomes and the assessment criteria.

* Choreographic content of the Primary in Dance examination and the Pre Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance Class Award.

* Guidelines on how to develop movement skills, expression, creativity and a musical sensitivity in young children.

* Teaching methods appropriate for the delivery of these syllabi.

* Advice on preparation and procedures for the Primary in Dance examination and the Pre-Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance Class Awards.
