Facilities LibraryThe Philip Richardson Library attracts dance scholars and researchers worldwide. The book collection comprises more than 5,000 titles covering all aspects of ballet and other dance genres, anthropology, biography, education, history, notation, medicine and psychology. The library is also home to a unique collection of 500 Benesh Movement Notation scores, a large collection of videos, DVDs and CDs and extensive runs of more than 30 international dance journals. The Library Archive comprises a unique collection of rare photographs and artefacts including programmes, playbills and costume designs.

As a registered student on one of the programmes offered by the Faculty of Education at the Royal Academy of Dance, you will be automatically entitled to become a member of the library and can enjoy free, unrestricted access to the general reference collections. 

For students resident in the UK it is possible for books, DVDs and CDs to be taken out of the library on loan. This can be done either by visiting the library in person or through our postal book loan service.

For distance-learners, the library offers a photocopying service and may even be able to carry out research on your behalf, for an appropriate fee. 

 Self-service photocopying is also available in the Library.
