Q: Can I change from full-time to part-time study or part-time study to full-time study?
A: Once you have started the programme you can only transfer from one mode of study to another at the end of a level. You will not be able to change part way through a level of study. If you are in any doubt, you are advised to study on a part-time basis.
Q: What is the difference between studying full-time and part-time and how long does it take to study?
A: Students wishing to study full-time should be prepared to study a minimum of 40 hours per week for 30 weeks. Part-time students are required to study a minimum of 20 hours per week for 30 weeks. The programme consists of three levels of study. Each level may be studied full-time over one year or part-time over two years.
Q: How much does the programme cost?
A: The Faculty of Education Prospectus provides full details of the programme costs and you will receive information with your Offer and with your invoice (in due course). Fees and funding information also available here.
Q: Is the programme studied entirely by distance learning?
A: There is a requirement at level one for attendance at an Intensive Study Seminar in London the cost of which (excluding travel, accommodation etc) is included in the fees. It is essential that you have a personal email address which you check regularly.
Q: Am I able to contact other students on the programme?

Q: How much contact will I have with my tutor?
A: Tutoring (contact) hours are given in the Programme Handbook which you will receive at the beginning of the programme. At Level 1, 20 credit modules are allocated 7 hours of one to one tutoring.

A: Please refer to the details on APL in this booklet. Further information is available from the Registrar: Tel +44 (0)20 7326 8049 or email faculty@rad.org.uk. The deadline for APL applications is April 30th prior to the commencement of the academic year in September.
Q: If I am exempt from modules of study through APL will I finish the degree quicker?
A: The programme is scheduled so that modules are completed within a set calendar. So if you have been exempted from a module you will not complete the programme more quickly, but you may find that during some semesters your work load is lighter. If, through APL you are eligible to enter at level 2 of the programme you will, of course, complete the programme in a shorter period of time.
Q. Will I be eligible for RAD Registered Teacher Status?
A. Students who have successfully completed 120 credits at Certificate level or above may apply for RTS through APL. Students are required to submit a practical teaching portfolio and a dvd demonstrating teaching expertise. Guidelines for the practical teaching portfolio and dvd will be provided once you have joined the programme.
Q. Will I need to purchase text books?
A:. You will be able to access the module study guides online, for each module you study. For some modules, you will need to purchase/access additional books which are key to the area of study. Many of these books are used across a number of modules which you will be required to study. For UK students, you may be eligible for a grant/loan to cover the cost of these books. You should contact the Educational Grants Advisory Service at http://www.egas-online.org/fwa/index.html
