Professional Dancers' Teaching Diploma (PDTD)

Entry Requirements

  • Experience in professional dance companies
  • Sound Classical Ballet Training
  • English Language Proficiency test required for applicants whose first language is not English.

Auditions & Interviews
All successful applicants for this programme will be invited to attend an Audition and Interview in London.

International Students applying for this programme who are unable to attend an audition in London may supply video and other evidence in place of an audition. This will include a telephone interview.

Criminal Records Disclosure
All applicants for programmes of study requiring contact with young people and vulnerable adults are required to have a Criminal Record Disclosure.
UK residents are required to consent to a Criminal Record Disclosure which will be made on their behalf to the Criminal Records Bureau by the RAD.
International residents should check with their National Administrator to ensure they request the correct Police Record check from their country.

For students who do not have English as a first language:
An overall score of 7 or more in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required with 7 being gained in the written element of the test. To find out more about this examination and how to contact your local test centre, please contact the British Council in your country.
If you have another recently achieved English language qualification, please check with The Registrar to establish acceptability.

Terms & Conditions

All students will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and submit to the procedures and regulations of the Royal Academy of Dance and, for validated programmes, the University of Surrey, as amended from time to time. Copies of regulations are available, on request, from The Registrar.

The regulations are issued to each student on enrolment.
