Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS)
How to apply to the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies
- One of the following RAD examinations: Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Intermediate, or an equivalent examination from a recognised dance teaching society.
- Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered on submission of video/DVD evidence. (Please refer to http://www.radeducation.org.uk/appform for guidance on the content of the video).
Criminal Records Disclosure
All applicants for programmes of study requiring contact with young people and vulnerable adults are required to have a Criminal Record Disclosure.
UK residents are required to consent to a Criminal Record Disclosure which will be made on their behalf to the Criminal Records Bureau by the RAD.
International residents should check with their National Administrator to ensure they request the correct Police Record check from their country.

Language of Delivery
The Certificate in Ballet Studies will be delivered in the first language of the teaching centre country, subject to there being viable numbers recruited to the programme in that country. If more than one language is spoken, the RAD retains the right to determine the language of delivery. Please note that if the language of delivery is not your first language; it is your responsibility to ensure that you are able to read, write and speak proficiently in that language. If you are concidering studying in English please, and this English is not your first language please visit the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) website. Although this test is not required for CBTS it is a good indicator of the standard of English required for the programme, students should achieve a score of 6.5 on the IELTS test.
How to apply
Application is made by sending the completed Faculty of Education application form to Registry. International students should send their application to their National Office. A list of contact details for our National Offices can be found here .

Submission of student applications supported by documentary evidence
1 October 2012
Acceptance of offered place on the programme by student to RAD UK
Submission of satisfactory police check by student to RAD UK
1 December 2012
Payment of first installment of tuition fee by student
Late or incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

Terms & Conditions
All students will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and submit to the procedures and regulations of the Royal Academy of Dance and, for validated programmes, the University of Surrey, as amended from time to time. Copies of regulations are available, on request, from The Registrar.
The regulations are issued to each student on enrolment.
