Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS)

Entry Requirements

  • One of the following RAD examinations: Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Intermediate, RAD Grade 8 or equivalent examination from a recognised dance teaching society.
  • Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered on submission of video/DVD evidence.
  • Candidates admitted with Graded examinations should ensure that they are capable of physical demonstration at a level equivalent to the Vocational Graded examinations.

Criminal Records Disclosure
All applicants for programmes of study requiring contact with young people and vulnerable adults are required to have a Criminal Record Disclosure.
UK residents are required to consent to a Criminal Record Disclosure which will be made on their behalf to the Criminal Records Bureau by the RAD.
International residents should check with their National Administrator to ensure they request the correct Police Record check from their country.

Language of Delivery
The Certificate in Ballet Studies will be delivered in the first language of the teaching centre country, subject to there being viable numbers recruited to the programme in that country. If more than one language is spoken, the RAD retains the right to determine the language of delivery. Please note that if the language of delivery is not your first language; it is your responsibility to ensure that you are able to read, write and speak proficiently in that language.

All students will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and submit to the procedures and regulations of the Royal Academy of Dance and, for validated programmes, the University of Surrey, as amended from time to time. Copies of regulations are available, on request, from The Registrar.

The regulations are issued to each student on enrolment.
