How to Apply to the BA (Hons) Dance Education
Entry Requirements
- Two good A Level passes or equivalent
- RAD Intermediate or equivalent
- English Language Proficiency test required for applicants whose first language is not English.
Accredited Prior Learning (APL)
The Faculty of Education at the Royal Academy of Dance is keen to recruit students from a wide range of backgrounds. If you do not hold traditional academic qualifications, you may have prior certified or experiential learning, which can be credited. APL applications will be considered for the BA Dance Education, the Diploma in Dance Education and the Certificate of Higher Education: Dance Education
For students who do not have English as a first language:
An overall score of 7 or more in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required with 7 being gained in the written element of the test. To find out more about this examination and how to contact your local test centre, please contact the British Council in your country.
If you have another recently achieved English language qualification, please check with the Registrar to establish acceptability.
Full Time or Part Time ?
The method of application varies between whether you are applying to study in the Full Time or Part Time mode. UCAS is the method of application for the Full Time option whereas those interested in Part Time can apply directly to the RAD. Both are detailed below:

How to apply through the Royal Academy of Dance
Terms & Conditions
All students will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and submit to the procedures and regulations of the Royal Academy of Dance and, for validated programmes, the University of Surrey, as amended from time to time. Copies of regulations are available, on request, from the Registrar.
The regulations are issued to each student on enrolment.
